Hwy #30/I-80 Corridor Study
As you know the City of Wilton sits in a prime location. Just three miles south on Highway 38 is Interstate 80 and it is within easy driving distance to Muscatine, Quad Cities, Iowa City and Cedar Rapids. Wilton also is bisected by Historic US Highway 6 that runs coast to coast.
The purpose of the Hwy #38/I-80 corridor study is to develop a comprehensive guidebook for the continued development of the Highway 38 corridor between Wilton and Interstate 80. This guide will help us to attract and direct investment, establish a vision for the area and serve as a strategic framework for future development along this vital gateway.
As Wilton continues to grow, future commercial, industrial, and residential opportunities will benefit from the access and daily travelers along Interstate 80. There has already been a large investment along the study area portion of Hwy #38 with the installation of water and sewer services that run to the Iowa Department Of Transportation (IDOT) rest areas west of the I-80 interchange. Due to this investment and some of the current IDOT plans to make improvements to the I-80 interchange, the City of Wilton wanted a plan that will establish goals and actions for this area to plan for future development and transportation needs along this corridor as development discussions take shape over the coming years.
